Ducks
The Duck series is an examination of a small duck my partner brought back for me from camp some years ago. I was struck by the beauty of the duck and its feathers, as well as by the nature of the tribute itself. I am very interested in expressing the intersections which occur between the human realm and the natural world.
Humans often extract resources by paradoxically terminating the object of interest itself. The act of extraction followed by consumption is the ultimate act of domination and, in this work, celebration. In this series, I attempt to honour the life of the duck while simultaneously illustrating the physical and social realities of what it means to kill and eat another.
